FAQs About Adoption

What is your adoption fee?

Our adoption fee is $150 for cats and $300 for dogs. In some cases, adoption fees may be reduced or fully covered thanks to generous donations or sponsorships — so be sure to check the individual pet’s listing for details.

Each adoption includes $500–$600 worth of veterinary care, such as:

  • Veterinary exam

  • Fecal exam

  • Flea prevention

  • Deworming

  • Microchipping

  • All core kitten/puppy vaccines

  • Heartworm testing (dogs)

  • FIV/FeLV testing (cats)

  • Rabies vaccination

  • Spay/neuter surgery

Where can I meet your adoptable pets?

We are a foster-based rescue so we don't have a shelter building open to the public; however, we do have cat kennels at Pet Supplies Plus Friendswood that feature a few of our adoptable cats and kittens. All of our other adoptable pets are housed in foster homes so meet and greets either occur in the Friendswood, TX area.

Can I do a trial adoption?

We’re no longer able to offer trial adoptions due to insurance restrictions.

However, we’re committed to setting both pets and adopters up for success. If an adoption doesn’t work out, we may be able to accept the animal back, depending on the situation. This is outlined in more detail in our adoption contract, which you'll review before finalizing any adoption.

Our goal is always to make the best possible match — for you and for the pet.

What happens if I adopt a pet but it doesn't work out?

We stand by our adopted pets for life and will always do our best to help — but because every animal has unique needs, the ability to return a pet will be discussed individually at the time of adoption and is outlined in your adoption contract.

It’s important to know that most cats and dogs need at least 3 weeks — sometimes more — to adjust to a new home.

However, if things aren’t working out, or if your circumstances change down the road, please reach out. We’ll work with you to find the best solution for everyone involved.

Why should I adopt TWO kittens instead of just ONE?

Kitten do much better in pairs and generally require less work than adopting a single kitten if you don't have another young cat at home. Having a friend helps a kitten's emotional and behavioral development. They teach each other good habits, provide comfort during the transition period, and keep each other entertained so they don't get into mischief.

FAQs About Our Organization

Do you take owner surrenders?
We are committed to keeping animals with their owners if possible by providing medical outreach and financial assistance; however, if no alternative can be found, we do take in owner surrenders depending on the space available in foster. If you need to surrender your pet, please visit our contact page.

How old do you have to be to volunteer?

Volunteers must be 18 or older to participate independently. However, youth volunteers in 6th grade through age 17 are welcome to help in several ways — as long as a parent or legal guardian is present while volunteering.

Opportunities for youth (with a parent/guardian) include:

  • Joining the clean-up crew at Pet Supplies Plus in Friendswood

  • Assisting at adoption events

  • Fostering in your home: fostering is a great way to make a difference together from the comfort of your home.

What does fostering entail?
Fosters bring animals into their home anywhere from one week to several months depending on the specific animal and their availability. If you have a bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, or even just space for a large crate, you can foster cats, kittens, dogs, or puppies in your home. The best part? We cover all your fosters' vetting, food, and supplies! Interested in volunteering? Click here.
