❗ Found Kittens? Don’t Grab—Read This First!
We’re swamped with young kittens—21 taken in this month alone. Many were found without their moms and needed round-the-clock care. But here’s the truth: a kitten’s best shot at survival is almost always with their mother. If you ever find kittens, please pause before scooping them up. 🐱 Listen to this Muddy Paws and Hairballs podcast episode on what to do if you find kittens.
🐾 Kitten Season Hit Us HARD
Just a few of the tiny lives we’ve taken in this month:
Skittles – Found alone at an apartment complex as an infant.
Starsky – Discovered dangling in wires under a mobile home.
Darcy – A 7-month-old kitten herself, raising 5 babies: Doug, Dalton, Demi, Dover, and Dakota.
Paprika + her crew of four – Cannoli, Calzone, Capellini, and Cannelloni (All are adoptable now!)
League City litter – 5 newborns saved from being discarded: Banks, Benji, Bristol, Button, and Bunny.
Arlo, Astro, and Audrey – 9-week-olds who found a foster… and quickly found forever homes.
Eli & Everly – Just arrived yesterday with their mom.
That’s 21 kittens, and we’ve had to say “no” to many more simply because we don’t have enough fosters. 👉 Want to help save the next litter? FILL OUT OUR VOLUNTEER FORM
WHY WE HAVE “OUTREACH” IN OUR NAME
Beyond rescue intake, the list of “saves” above includes a mom and kittens we wanted you to know about, because their case is an example of OUTREACH which is a foundation of our organization that we think makes us unique: A woman reached out for help with a litter of kittens born to her unspayed cat. She was in a tough situation, living in temporary housing, but she made it clear—this cat was her child’s beloved pet for the past three years. They’d raised her from a kitten when they found her and couldn’t just walk away, but life had made it impossible to provide any vet care. We stepped in—not just to help the kittens by taking them into our program, but to offer a fresh start for family and the momma cat. We’ve now spayed and fully vetted their mom, making sure she’s healthy and can stay with the family who loves her. This is what rescue is really about—keeping pets safe, together, and out of shelters. ____
